I can help your child:

• Master grammar, spelling, and word choice
• Understand how writing links to familiar everyday language
• Create a thesis, argue points, and use strong examples
• Comprehend and complete written schoolwork with confidence
• Prepare for college and AP through guided exercises in college reading, argumentation, and research
• Write anything with enjoyment

Even with good teachers, a child may find it difficult to learn how to write in a group-centered, rapidly paced classroom. Your child may need to learn writing in an individual, face-to-face setting attuned to her or his needs.

When you contact me we will first arrange an initial assessment, during which the following process takes place:

• We discuss your concerns, hopes, and appreciation for your child's strengths. You describe your child and show me any materials bearing on your child's experience and confidence in writing, and school expectations
• I assess your child's writing skills and strengths.
• I discuss the assessment with you and explain how I would tutor your child.

You are no obligation to continue after the assessment, but if you choose to do so we will arrange a session schedule and location (typicaly your home or school), at which time your child and I can get to work!

Charges are $75 for the initial assessment session, which typically takes one to one and one-half hours, and $50 for each 50 minute session thereafter. All charges are payable at the time services are rendered.
